What is BlockReel Fund?

The dual-rail crowdfunding platform built for independent filmmakers.

BlockReel Fund is a crowdfunding platform purpose-built for the film industry. It combines two payment rails (Stripe for fiat, Solana for stablecoins and SOL) so creators can raise money from a global audience without giving up most of their margin to platform fees.

The short version

You build a campaign page on /fund/start, set a funding goal and a deadline, design reward tiers, and share the page with your audience. Backers pledge with a credit card (Stripe) or a Solana wallet (USDC, USDT, or SOL). If you reach 80% of your goal by the deadline, your campaign succeeds and you fulfill the rewards you promised. Below 80%, card pledges are not charged; Solana pledges have already settled to a platform-controlled wallet and require administrator-initiated refunds from the treasury wallet to the original backer wallet.

Both card and Solana pledges count toward the same 80% campaign threshold.

Who Fund is for

Fund is designed for projects that fit one or more of these profiles:

If your project is not a film or directly serves filmmakers, Fund is probably not the right home for it. Kickstarter and Indiegogo serve general creative projects; we focus on cinema.

How it differs from generic platforms

> BlockReel Fund is the only crowdfunding platform built inside a working filmmaker ecosystem. The campaign is the start, not the end.

1. Transparent platform fees. Fund currently charges 5% on card and Solana pledges. Card processing and network fees are additional.

2. Solana payment rail. Backers anywhere in the world can pledge with USDC, USDT, or SOL through Phantom or Solflare. Settlement is instant, network fees are fractions of a cent, and creator payouts follow production milestones.

3. The post-campaign ecosystem (the big one). Generic platforms hand you the money and disappear. BlockReel keeps working for you after the campaign closes.

Post-campaign perks for successful creators

When your campaign reaches the 80% funding threshold, you unlock a package of platform benefits no other crowdfunding site offers:

You select which of these you want to advertise on your campaign page in the Fund Start Builder; all of them are honored automatically when the campaign succeeds.

The two payment rails

| Rail | Currencies | Who can launch | Backer reach | Fees | |---|---|---|---|---| | Stripe | USD, CAD | US and Canada only | Global (Stripe handles 135+ currencies) | 5% platform + ~2.9% + 30c per transaction | | Solana | USDC, USDT, SOL | Global (minus OFAC sanctioned countries) | Global (minus OFAC) | 5% platform + network fee |

You can enable one rail or both on the same campaign. Most creators run both to maximize reach.

> Why is Stripe limited to US and Canada? Tax reporting. Stripe issues 1099-K forms in the US and T4A equivalents in Canada. We can manage that for two jurisdictions cleanly. EU VAT, UK VATMOSS, Australian GST, and similar regimes require per-country tax registration that is not feasible at our current scale. The Solana rail solves the global access problem without dragging us into 30+ tax regimes.

Funding models

Fund's standard campaign succeeds when it reaches 80% of its funding goal by the deadline. Below that threshold, card pledges are not charged and Solana pledges require administrator-initiated refunds from the treasury wallet to the original backer wallet.

Platform economics

When a campaign succeeds, here is where the money goes:

Unlike traditional VC-backed crowdfunding platforms, our platform fee feeds back into the filmmaking community through the festival, studio productions, and creator grants. There is no extractive private equity sitting between the fee and the next film getting made.
