Screenwriting for Pilot

An independent production is seeking a senior screenwriter for an upcoming sci-fi pilot, a gritty, character-driven story exploring themes of identity and artificial intelligence in a near-future Los Angeles. We are looking for someone to collaborate closely on shaping the pilot script, taking it from a detailed outline and treatment to a production-ready draft. This project offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the creative vision of an exciting new series. Key responsibilities include developing compelling dialogue, structuring engaging plot points, and refining character arcs within the established world. You will work closely with the director and creative team, incorporating feedback efficiently. We expect an experienced writer capable of delivering high-quality pages under a tight schedule. Candidates must have at least 5 years of professional screenwriting experience, with a proven track record in genre storytelling, preferably sci-fi. A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to write compelling, character-driven narratives is essential. Please submit a resume and 2-3 relevant script samples, ideally spec pilots or features in the sci-fi or thriller genres. The estimated workload is about 3-4 weeks, with the aim to complete the script by early December 2026. This is a paid position, offering $2000-$3000 per week, and will primarily be a remote role, with occasional in-person meetings in Los Angeles, CA as needed. Flexible hours will be discussed.
