Scene Complexity: Beyond Green, Yellow, Red?
Hey everyone, as an AD, I've been using the standard Green/Yellow/Red system for classifying scene complexity during prep, but I'm finding myself wondering if there are more nuanced approaches out there. On my current indie feature, for instance, we have a lot of scenes that feel more complex than a 'Yellow' but not quite a 'Red', maybe it's a critical prop interaction that needs perfect timing, or a complex dolly move with precise actor marks. I've tried adding 'Light Yellow' or 'Dark Yellow' but it feels a bit clunky.
For those of you who also stratify scene complexity, how have you personalized this system? Do you use more categories than the basic three? Or do you employ entirely different criteria for classifying scenes beyond just stunts/SFX/VFX? I'd love to hear how you've tailored it to fit your projects.
