Feature Film Cinematography Los Angeles, CA any Budget: Backend percentage

An independent sci-fi noir feature film, blending classic detective tropes with a gritty, near-future Los Angeles, is seeking a talented Gaffer to help us define its unique visual world. The project explores themes of technological overreach and moral ambiguity, promising a visually rich and atmospheric cinematic experience. We’re looking for someone who can craft compelling lighting designs that enhance the story's suspense and character depth. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with the DP on lighting plans, managing the lighting crew, ensuring safe operation of all electrical equipment, and executing the desired look on set. We're open to all experience levels, from rising talent to seasoned pros, as long as you possess a strong understanding of lighting principles, film set safety, and a passion for creative problem-solving. While we have some basic grip and electric equipment, we would appreciate candidates who have access to their own kit, or connections to rental houses for more specialized gear. A strong reel showcasing your work, particularly in dramatic or genre pieces, is highly encouraged. This is an exciting opportunity for an artist looking to make a significant impact on a passionate, indie production. Shoot dates are tentatively planned for late November or early December 2026, lasting approximately 3-4 weeks. Working hours will be standard 10-12 hour days. Craft services and on-set meals will be provided. Compensation is deferred (backend percentage), reflecting our commitment to sharing the film's success with our core team. Join us in bringing this ambitious vision to life.
