Sound Design for Short Film
We're looking for a Senior Sound Designer for an independent short film shooting primarily in Vancouver, BC, with post-production planned for late October to mid-November 2026. This is a dramatic short, approximately 15 minutes in length, exploring themes of memory and grief through a slightly surreal lens. The film relies heavily on atmospheric soundscapes and nuanced foley to build its emotional core, offering a fantastic opportunity for creative sound work. Key responsibilities include creating immersive sound design, dialogue editing and cleanup, foley recording/sourcing, mixing, and mastering the final audio track. You'll be collaborating closely with the director and editor to ensure the sound perfectly complements the visual narrative. We're aiming for a polished, festival-ready sound mix. Candidates should have extensive experience (5+ years) in film sound design, a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to work with complex emotional narratives, and proficiency with industry-standard DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic Pro). While we have some basic sound libraries, having your own high-quality gear for foley or custom sound creation is a plus. Please submit a reel or portfolio showcasing your best work. This is a paid position at $150-300 per day, depending on experience, for an estimated 10-15 days of work spread across late October and November 2026. This role is remote-friendly, though preference may be given to Vancouver-based candidates for potential in-person meetings. We will provide picture lock, AAF/XML files, and a detailed spotting session.
