Sound Design for Pilot

An independent production is seeking an enthusiastic, entry-level Sound Designer for an upcoming sci-fi pilot. This project explores compelling themes of artificial intelligence and human connection, offering a unique narrative opportunity for creative soundscaping. We're aiming for a grounded yet ethereal sonic atmosphere that enhances the futuristic setting without overshadowing the character-driven story. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the director and editor to craft and implement all sound elements, including dialogue clean-up, foley, sound effects design, and preliminary mixing. You will be instrumental in shaping the auditory world of our pilot. We require candidates to have their own sound design software (DAW) and a portfolio or reel demonstrating their abilities, even if limited to student or personal projects. Experience with professional audio editing and mixing workflows is a plus. Prep work and post-production are anticipated for November 2026, with an estimated commitment of about 3-4 weeks for the sound design phase. This is a great opportunity to gain experience on a narrative project. Compensation for this role will be deferred, structured as a backend percentage of any future sales or distribution. Location for post-production work is flexible, but Los Angeles, CA based applicants are preferred for potential in-person meetings.
