Editing for Documentary

Documentary Editing New York, NY any Budget: $1000-1500/day

Seeking an Editor for an upcoming independent documentary project, available for approximately 3 weeks of work starting around November 6, 2026. This is a paid position offering $1000-1500/day. We are looking for someone to help shape the narrative of a compelling, character-driven documentary exploring a unique cultural tradition in New York City. The tone is observational and authentic, aiming for a respectful yet engaging portrayal of its subjects. We have a significant amount of verité footage and interviews that need to be expertly woven into a cohesive and emotionally resonant story. Your main responsibilities will include ingesting and organizing footage, creating assembly edits, refining sequences, incorporating sound design elements, and collaborating closely on creative direction. While experience is a plus, we are open to editors at any stage of their career who can demonstrate a strong sense of storytelling and rhythm. You will need to provide your own editing software (preferably Adobe Premiere Pro) and a suitable workstation. Please share a link to your reel or relevant editing samples. We will provide all raw footage and any necessary project files. This will be an intensive but rewarding experience, working alongside a passionate independent team based in New York, NY.
