Senior Editor, Documentary Feature

Looking for a Senior Editor to join our independent production team in New York, NY, for an upcoming documentary feature. We're seeking an experienced editor to help shape a compelling, character-driven story about an underrepresented community. This project dives into the personal journeys and broader societal impact of their work, aiming for a thoughtful, authentic, and emotionally resonant tone. It's a passion project with a lot of heart, and we need someone who can bring that to life. Key responsibilities include assembling footage, collaborating closely with the director on story structure, creating rough cuts and fine cuts, integrating archival material, and delivering a polished final edit for festivals and distribution. You'll be working with a substantial amount of interview footage and observational material, so strong narrative instincts are essential. We need a skilled editor with at least 5 years of experience in documentary editing, specifically on feature-length projects. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro is required. Please provide a strong reel showcasing your narrative storytelling abilities and your experience with long-form documentary work. The editing process is expected to begin in October 2026 and continue for approximately 8-10 weeks, working around 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week. We're offering a rate of $100-200 per day. While we don't provide a dedicated editing suite, we can discuss options for an editing setup if needed. This is a crucial role for our small but dedicated team.
