1st AC, Dark Comedy Web Series

Web Series Production Vancouver, BC entry Budget: Backend percentage

Our independent production is seeking a dedicated 1st AC to join a small team for an upcoming web series shoot. This project is a dark comedy, high concept, with a slightly surreal tone, exploring themes of modern anxiety through a unique visual lens. We are aiming for a stylized, character-driven look that balances humor with subtle tension. Key responsibilities include maintaining camera equipment, ensuring focus pulls are sharp and consistent, and assisting the Director of Photography with camera setups and breakdowns. You will be responsible for managing lenses, batteries, and all camera support systems. We need someone who is proactive, organized, and has a strong understanding of camera mechanics and on-set etiquette. Familiarity with cinema cameras, like Blackmagic or RED, is a plus. We require you to have your own basic toolkit, including tapes, marks, and cleaning supplies. While we prefer candidates with some prior experience on independent film sets, we are open to enthusiastic entry-level applicants who can demonstrate a solid grasp of the role's fundamentals and a strong work ethic. Please provide a brief cover letter outlining your experience and any relevant credits or a reel if available. Shoot dates are approximately 10-12 days, spread out over the second half of November 2026, with an estimated 10-12 hour workday. We will provide craft services, lunch, and a positive, collaborative set environment. This is a deferred compensation position, offering a backend percentage of any future profits.
