Assistant Editor, Feature Doc (Remote OK)

Documentary Post-Production 🌍 Remote entry Budget: Points + deferred

This feature documentary explores the fascinating subculture of competitive birdwatching across North America, focusing on a few passionate individuals as they prepare for the world's most prestigious birding competition. It's a character-driven piece, full of humor, quiet intensity, and stunning nature visuals. We're looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Editor to help us organize and shape this rich material. Key responsibilities include ingesting footage, syncing audio, creating dailies, organizing project files, and performing basic assembly edits under the supervision of the lead editor. You'll also assist with archival research and media management. We need someone who is proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro, has a keen eye for detail, and is eager to learn the ropes of documentary post-production. While this is an entry-level position, some prior experience in a similar role or strong academic background in film editing is a big plus. A reel demonstrating your organizational skills or basic editing aptitude would be great. You'll need your own workstation and software licenses for remote work. This is an independent production, so flexibility is key. We anticipate about 8-10 weeks of work starting in October 2026, roughly 20-30 hours per week, with some flexibility around your schedule. We offer deferred compensation in the form of points, along with a deferred payment plan. Please send your resume and a brief cover letter. We'd like to make a decision by November 22, 2026.
