Camera for Documentary

Documentary Camera Los Angeles, CA any Budget: Deferred pay

Witness the untold stories of LA's underground street art scene through the eyes of its most elusive creators. We're an independent production seeking a skilled 1st AC to join our small, passionate crew for an upcoming documentary. This project aims to capture raw, authentic moments, offering a gritty yet artistic look at a vibrant subculture. We need someone who is adaptable, proactive, and thrives in dynamic, run-and-gun environments typical of documentary filmmaking. Your primary responsibilities will include pulling focus, maintaining camera equipment, managing media, and ensuring smooth operation of all camera department logistics. We'll be working with a single camera setup, likely a RED or similar cinema camera. You should have experience with professional cinema cameras and lenses, and a keen eye for detail. While we can provide essential camera bodies and lenses, having your own basic kit (e.g., monitor, tools, follow focus unit) is a plus. Flexibility is key; some shooting locations may be unconventional. Shoot dates are approximately around November 6, 2026, for about 3-4 weeks of intermittent shooting, typically 8-10 hour days. Deferred compensation is offered for this passion project, with meals and local travel expenses covered. Please submit your resume and a link to your reel (if applicable) demonstrating your experience. All experience levels are welcome, from emerging talent to seasoned professionals.
