Gaffer for Sci-Fi Web Series, Los Angeles

We need an experienced Gaffer to join our independent web series production, starting with a prep day in the last week of October 2026. This sci-fi drama blends intimate character moments with visually striking genre elements, requiring a creative eye for lighting to enhance both. The tone is grounded and thought-provoking, with some subtle fantastical elements. We're looking for someone who can translate our director's vision into compelling on-screen atmosphere. Your key responsibilities will include collaborating with the DP on lighting design, leading the lighting crew, managing equipment, and executing setups efficiently on set. This is a senior role, so we expect you to lead with confidence and expertise. You should have your own basic G&E package, though we will be renting additional specialized equipment as needed. Please have a strong reel showcasing your work on similar independent projects or web series. We anticipate approximately 10-12 shoot days spread over about 3 weeks, primarily in and around Los Angeles. Shoot days will be 10-12 hours, with some flexibility depending on location and scene requirements. Craft services and water will be provided on set. Pay is $150-300/day, commensurate with experience.
