Associate Director for Doc (Entry-Level)
Seeking an enthusiastic Associate Director to join our independent production team for an upcoming feature-length documentary in Chicago. This project explores the vibrant underground art scene of the city, focusing on emerging artists and their creative processes. We need someone who can hit the ground running, assisting our primary director with on-set coordination and creative vision. Your responsibilities will include helping to develop interview questions, managing call sheets, coordinating logistics for location shoots, assisting with B-roll shot lists, and ensuring continuity across segments. We're looking for an entry-level professional with a keen eye for storytelling and a passion for documentary filmmaking. Previous experience with independent film sets, even in a PA or assistant role, is a plus. While personal gear isn't strictly required, familiarity with common documentary film equipment (DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, basic lighting, audio recorders) is beneficial. Please submit a reel or portfolio showcasing any previous work, even student or short-form projects. The main shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for around November 17, 2026, lasting approximately three weeks, mostly day shoots. This is a deferred compensation position, offering a backend percentage of the film's profits. We will provide transportation within Chicago for shoots and basic craft services.
