Directing for Short Film

Our upcoming independent production, a short film delving into the quiet desperation of a scientist grappling with memory loss as she races to complete her life's work, needs a senior-level Director. It's a character-driven sci-fi drama with a contemplative, somewhat melancholic tone, blending practical effects with subtle visual storytelling to explore themes of identity and legacy. We're looking for someone with a strong visual style and a nuanced approach to character performance to bring this project to life. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the DP to establish a cohesive visual language, guiding actors to deliver impactful performances, and overseeing the creative vision from pre-production through the final edit. You'll be instrumental in translating the script's emotional depth onto the screen. We require a director with significant experience in narrative short films, evidenced by a compelling reel showcasing strong storytelling and directorial vision. Experience with sci-fi elements is a plus, but not essential. We anticipate a 5-day principal photography schedule during the second half of November 2026, with an additional 1-2 weeks of prep work leading up to it. Shoot days will be approximately 10-12 hours. We'll handle all equipment rentals, crew hiring, and production logistics, so your focus can remain purely on the creative aspects. We are offering paid compensation of $150-300 per day, dependent on experience.
