Directing for Commercial

Our independent production is seeking an entry-level Commercial Director for an upcoming project in Austin, TX. This is a punchy, visually driven commercial (approximately 60-90 seconds finished length) for a local tech startup, aiming for a fresh and slightly humorous tone. We're looking for someone with a sharp eye for visual storytelling and a knack for engaging an audience quickly. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the screenwriter and client to develop the creative vision, leading the small crew on set, blocking scenes, and guiding talent performances. You'll be responsible for bringing the script to life through dynamic camera work and compelling direction. This is a great opportunity to gain significant commercial directing experience with a supportive team. Candidates should have their own basic directing equipment (e.g., monitor, clapperboard, perhaps a small lighting kit for fill if available) and a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating visual flair and narrative understanding. While extensive commercial experience isn't required, a passion for the craft and a clear directorial voice are essential. Shoot dates are a 1-2 day shoot, likely in late October or early November 2026. Compensation is $300-500/day, depending on experience. We will provide locations, crew support, and the primary camera package.
