Screenwriting for Short Film

Seeking a dedicated Screenwriter to develop and refine the script for an upcoming independent sci-fi short film. We're looking for someone who can craft compelling dialogue and build a unique world within a tight narrative. The project is a character-driven sci-fi drama with a contemplative, slightly melancholic tone, exploring themes of memory and connection in a near-future New York. This isn't a VFX-heavy action piece, but rather focuses on intimate human stories against a speculative backdrop. Your key responsibility will be to take our existing beat sheet and character outlines, develop a full screenplay, and then work through a few rounds of revisions based on feedback. We're open to all experience levels; your voice and ability to tell a story are what matter most. A portfolio or writing samples (short stories, scripts, even creative essays) are essential for us to get a sense of your style. This is a deferred compensation project, offering points in the film's backend. We anticipate about 3-4 weeks of focused writing and revision work, starting immediately. Communication will primarily be remote, with occasional in-person meetings in NYC if convenient. We're aiming to shoot the last week of November 2026.
