Screenwriting for Web Series

Web Series Screenwriting Chicago, IL entry Budget: $500-800/day

An independent production is seeking an entry-level Screenwriter to join our small, dynamic team for an upcoming web series. We're developing a dark comedy that blends the absurd with genuinely human moments, exploring themes of modern anxiety through a unique, slightly surreal lens. Think social satire with a quirky edge, set in contemporary Chicago. This is a fantastic opportunity for an emerging writer to make a significant impact on a creative project. Your primary responsibility will be collaborating with the director and existing writing team to flesh out episode outlines, draft episode scripts (likely 5-7 pages per episode), and participate in script feedback sessions. We are looking for someone with a strong voice, excellent grasp of comedic timing, and a knack for sharp, character-driven dialogue. While no specific gear is required, proficiency with standard screenwriting software (e.g., Final Draft, Celtx) is essential. We anticipate approximately 3-4 weeks of work, spread across November 2026 and December 2026, primarily remote but with occasional in-person meetings in Chicago. The compensation is $500-800 per day, depending on experience. Please submit a brief cover letter outlining your interest, a resume, and a writing sample (e.g., short script, web series pilot, or relevant scene work, maximum 10 pages) demonstrating your comedic writing style and character development skills. Previous web series experience is a plus, but not strictly required for this entry-level role.
