We're looking for someone to help bring historical photos and archival footage to life, creating subtle yet impactful visual effects that enhance the narrative without distracting from it. This independent production, a passion project for a small production company, aims for a nuanced, gritty tone. Key responsibilities include rotoscoping, basic matte painting for environment extensions, motion graphics for map sequences, and cleanup of archival footage. You'll work closely with the editor and director to integrate these elements . We're looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of experience in documentary or historical fiction VFX, a strong understanding of compositing, and proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., After Effects, Nuke). A solid reel demonstrating your past work, particularly with archival footage, is essential. Post-production is scheduled to begin in late October or early November 2026, with an estimated 3-4 weeks of work on a flexible schedule. You'll be working remotely for most tasks, but some in-person meetings in Vancouver, BC may be required for creative reviews. We're offering a rate of $200-400 per day, dependent on experience.
