VFX for Short Film

An independent production is seeking a talented VFX Artist to join our crew for an ambitious short film. \"Nebula's Echo\" is a 10-minute sci-fi drama, blending grounded human emotion with cosmic wonder. Think a more intimate, character-driven \"Arrival\" or \"Contact\" with a focus on visual storytelling and subtle, impactful effects. We need someone who can help us bring otherworldly elements to life, primarily through digital matte painting, compositing, and subtle environmental enhancements that elevate the narrative, rather than distract from it. This is a fantastic opportunity for any experience level to contribute significantly to a compelling story and build out their reel. Key responsibilities include creating and integrating visual effects, potentially supervising a few plate shots, and collaborating closely with the director and editor to achieve the desired aesthetic. We're looking for someone proficient with industry-standard software (e.g., Nuke, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve Fusion) and a strong eye for realism and mood. Please submit a reel or portfolio showcasing your best work. This is a deferred compensation project (points + deferred pay). The film has a 1-2 day principal photography schedule around late November 2026, with post-production work extending through December 2026 and January 2027. Most VFX work can be done remotely after initial collaboration, but some on-set presence in Austin during late November 2026 may be beneficial.
