Art Department for Documentary

Documentary Art Department Brooklyn, NY mid Budget: Revenue share

Our upcoming documentary explores the fascinating history of Brooklyn's independent music scene, focusing on the intimate stories of artists and venues that shaped a cultural movement. This is a passion project with a unique visual style, blending archival footage with present-day interviews and re-creations, aiming for a warm, authentic, and slightly gritty aesthetic. We're looking for a mid-level Art Department professional to help bring this world to life. You'll be responsible for coordinating set dressing, props, and overall art direction for interviews and stylized re-creation segments. This involves sourcing and organizing materials, managing the art budget (under my supervision), and ensuring visual consistency. Experience working on documentaries or independent features is a plus. You should have a keen eye for period detail (late 90s to mid-2000s) and be adept at creative problem-solving with limited resources. Please provide a link to your reel or portfolio showcasing relevant art department work. We anticipate about 3-4 weeks of prep work starting in early November 2026, followed by 5-7 shooting days spread across early to mid-December 2026. This is a partnership opportunity, offering revenue share as compensation. We're a small, dedicated team and welcome collaborative spirits. We'll handle craft services and transportation during shoot days. Please send your resume and portfolio by November 25, 2026.
