Gaffer for NYC Music Video (Senior)

Seeking a senior Gaffer for an upcoming independent music video shoot in New York City. This project is for an emerging indie artist, featuring a vibrant, high-energy pop track with some surreal, dreamlike elements. We're looking for someone who can bring a creative eye and efficient lighting solutions to help translate this vision into dynamic visuals. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the visual aesthetic and ensuring we capture stunning footage. We need someone who can hit the ground running with excellent practical lighting skills and a strong understanding of how to work collaboratively on set. Key responsibilities include designing and executing the lighting plot, managing the lighting crew, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and adapting to on-set changes quickly. You'll work closely with the DP and director to achieve the desired look for each scene. Candidates should have extensive experience lighting music videos or similar fast-paced narrative content, a solid reel showcasing diverse lighting styles, and ideally access to a basic lighting package (HMI, LED, practicals). Our shoot is scheduled for 1-2 days in late October 2026, with an estimated 10-12 hour day. Compensation is $500-800 per day, based on experience and gear contribution. Meals and local travel expenses will be provided.
