Senior Location Manager, Sci-Fi Pilot

When a brilliant but disgraced scientist makes contact with an alien intelligence, he must choose between global salvation and his own redemption. We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Location Manager for an upcoming independent production, a proof-of-concept pilot for a grounded sci-fi drama. This project is being helmed by a passionate team, including myself, a Transportation Coordinator who knows the importance of solid logistics. We are aiming to shoot for approximately 10-12 days in the second half of November 2026, with prep starting immediately. Expected work hours will be 10-12 hour days. This is a crucial role, responsible for identifying, securing, and managing all filming locations in and around the Los Angeles area. Key responsibilities include initial scouting, negotiating location agreements, managing location budgets, coordinating with local authorities for permits, and overseeing on-set location logistics during production. The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of experience as a Location Manager on narrative productions, particularly those requiring complex urban and natural environments. You should have a proven track record of creative problem-solving and excellent communication skills. A strong network of local contacts and familiarity with LA permitting processes are essential.
